What Diotec has to do with cheerful coloured eggs

bipolar transistor MMDT2227 for cheerful colored eggs

Perhaps you have already asked yourself why eggs are painted at Easter time? There are several assumptions about this: The egg as a symbol of fertility and new life, which finds its beginning behind the shell, is widely known in many cultures.

In ancient Greece and Rome, colorful eggs were already hung to celebrate the equinox.
A chick just hatching from the egg is seen in Christianity as a reminder of Jesus' resurrection on Easter Sunday.

People in the Middle Ages kept a fasting period from Ash Wednesday to around Good Friday. The eggs laid by the hens during the last week of Lent were boiled to extend their shelf life. To avoid confusion with fresh eggs, the older eggs were simply dyed red. These "Holy Week eggs" were considered especially sacred. Nowadays, children are delighted when they notice coloured eggs right away during their search thanks to the colorful shells.

Modern machines can quickly dye eggs in large quantities. Using a gripper arm, the still hot eggs are placed either on paint rolls or are multiple colored by dispensers and airbrushes. Our component MMDT2227 contains two complementary bipolar transistors in a single package, for the control of small DC motors and electric valves. Ideally suited for egg painting machines and automatic packing lines – Easter can come!
