Information about Material Contents of Diotec Products

All of our products are compliant to RoHS/WEEE/ELV and REACH

As a European company with headquarters in Germany and worldwide customer base, we are obliged to fulfill  environmental legislations such as RoHS/WEEE/ELV or REACH.

A Full Material Declaration (FMD) of our products can be found in the according material data sheet (MDS) accessible via the article search.

RoHS/WEEE/ELV

All of our products are compliant to EU directives RoHS (2002/95/EG) and RoHS II (2011/65/EU).  This compliance includes the four new substances added to Annex II of Directive 2011/65/EU from 22.07.2019 onwards - RoHS III (2015/863). Our components can be used for products according to WEEE (2012/19/EU) and ELV (2000/53/EG). We make use of exemptions, see our RoHS compliance declaration:

Leadfree Tinning, Solderability and CE Mark

  • Leadfree Tinning of Outer Contacts
    For dip tinning of our devices a Sn95.5Ag3.8Cu0.7 alloy is used, for galvanically tinned parts pure Sn.
  • All parts (even older, non lead free ones) are solderable with lead free processes
    Admissible soldering parameters (J-STD-020C/JESD22A111): max 260°C for no longer than 10 s more information
  • CE Marking of our parts is not necessary
    We produce and supply semiconductor components, but no electrical or electronic equipment. As such, our parts do not need a CE mark.
REACH + SCIP

Our articles and their packaging materials do not contain "substances of very high concern" (SVHC) included in the Candidate List* (date 23/01/2024) nor the Authorisation List* (Annex XIV, date 12/02/2020) according to article 59 (1, 10) of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (“REACH”) (see the website of the European Chemicals Agency (EChA) http://echa.europa.eu/) in a concentration above 0.1 % by weight, with the exemption of Lead (Pb), TBBA and Boron Trioxide, which are present in some, but not all of our products.

Whether Lead, TBBA or Boron Trioxide are contained or not and in which concentration can be found in the according material data sheet, to be found on our website (search for article, click on "MDS"). Lead is covered by the exemptions of the Directive 2011/65/EU (refer to our RoHS certificate).

SCIP is the database for information on Substances of Concern In articles as such or in complex objects (Products) established under the Waste Framework Directive (WFD) 2008/98/EC. Companies supplying articles containing substances of very high concern (SVHCs) on the Candidate List in a concentration above 0.1% weight by weight (w/w) on the EU market have to submit information on these articles to ECHA, as from 5 January 2021. Diotec has submitted these articles already into this database, SCIP numbers are available on request.

Other bromine compounds are still allowed!
As an example, in the plastic molding compound of some of our devices, a bromine-containing flame retardant is used: Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBA, CAS 79-94-7), in full accordance to RoHS.

Nevertheless, Diotec is already offering halogenfree devices. For details, please refer to below information.

Conflict Region Materials

Diotec takes its responsibility as a global partner very seriously. We work vigorously with our suppliers of raw materials that none of these materials come from any Conflict Regions, such as the Conflict Affected and High Risk Areas (CAHRAs) under Regulation (EU) 2017/821. We work with our supply chain to insure that we maintain the policy not supporting Conflict material suppliers. An EICC Conflict Free Minerals Template (CMRT) including a list of our conflict free smelters (CFS) can be provided on request.

California Proposition 65

"The Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986" protects the Californian state's drinking water sources from being contaminated with chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm, and requires companies to inform Californians about exposures to such chemicals.

Diotec's products are not intended to be sold to end-users, as such we are not subject to California Proposition 65. We take our responsibility in the supply chain however very serious, and inform therefore our customers by below declaration about potential exposures by our components during or after use in their devices sold to their end-users.
